When you first had your injury, you got a card from Joni Earckson-Tada, a devoted advocate for the disabled, who suffered a spinal injury over 40 years ago. She has just been diagnosed with breast cancer and is healing from her surgery, but will need further treatment because her lymph nodes were involved. (Oy, as if she hasn't been through enough!) Please lift her up in prayer, as well as her husband and careproviders. We will be going back to a Joni and Friends Family Retreat at the end of July. Check out her updates at www.joniandfriends.org

Right before I left to come down for your tournament, Rhett informed me that his father would undergo surgery for a non-cancerous brain tumor he had. His equalibriam was affected by the tumor but he was determined to play the best game that he could regardless. I will forward it on the next entry as it is too long.

Bunk, I thank you every day for keeping life real to all of us. I love you my friend! Enjoy the letter.

OMG...another FANTASTIC tourney. I think I enjoy it more every year! Bunk you looked great..sorry we stayed at the tipsy so long after...it's really hard to get a cab at 2:30 am...Hit Del Taco after we left...those egg quesadilla Dirk made just weren't quite enough. Is it just me, or is the long drive champion the same guy who plays Dr. Perry Cox in Scrubs? And for a guy who can hit a golf ball 370 yards, I was surprised that Father Pontarelli was able to hold him down and rip him a new one! Bunk, great seeing you this week! Sorry I will not see you today. I am in Phoenix, and will watch the game far more mellow than normal. I managed to knock up my love Victoria, and we are both thrilled about it. Baby is healthy and 14 weeks along, and still cooking.

I was in San Fran with one of her friends last week, Kati, and she asked if I knew you when found out I played Rugby in orange county. Ah, but of course. She says hi - and other great things about you - and I just forwarded her your web site.

Great update and news about the Tipsy - and just in time for football season. We're all into the high school season now with Austin playing at Oaks Christian - had a great trip to Seattle for a big game last weekend. Saw that Servite is off to a great start also so Bunk must be happy with that. Regards to all and congratulations on the completion of the Tipsy.

Just checking in to get an update and say hello. Sounds like your summer has been busy and fun. I am glad to hear that the breathing exercises are progressing, we are always thinking of you.

Roman and I are getting ready to head to Washington D.C. and Georgia for a friend's wedding, our first time back in the states in over a year, I even forgot that today was Labor Day, I have lost track of American holidays! So it will be nice to be back. Not sure when we will be back in CA again, but we will be sure and stop in to say hello.

I was treated to another fishing trip to San Clemente Island and the Yellows were there at gray light and I just put my first cup of Jo down and dropped my 40# stick with a dropper loop hit bottow gave it a couple of cranks and Booya I was on before I was even awake landed a nice 25# yellow, beautiful day on the sea. I'll tell you it sure is nice to have pals in high places that don't mind sending on board for the fish count. Hope you all are keeping cool and getting healed. Wowie so much good news from your status report, thats what I call progress all around. Went to Catalina last week, bass fishing because the Capt. was to stuborn to listen to where the fish were, very frustrating day, because where the fish were they were being caught ie: yellows and white sea bass, you can't tell the skipper how to drive darn it. Well keep doing as good as you are and much better God willing. P.S. Scotty is now a certified personal trainer and I begin Culinary School on 8/31 please keep us in your prayers. Hi gang, just returned from a 6-pack trip on the options owned by my good pal Bobby owner of Big Fish Tackle, he sent me on Fri 7/31 cost on him, nice huh! went to San Clemente, started fishing a 4am gray light hooked 2 nice yellows one was 22# and the other was 31# my arm still hurts from the pull, landed both and got first in the jackpot. Not bad for the only chick with 6 really good anglers. Anyhow I was posted on 976-tuna on Sat. report as Cookie from big fish Cathy Kilem nice huh! Hi Bunk! I think you of you often, but was very behind in catching up on your updates. It sounds as though you are doing very well and the Tipsy seems to be coming right along. Great to hear!! As for me, I am currently almost 29 weeks pregnant with twin boys...yikes, are Tim and I going to have our hands full or what? HA!! We are so looking forward to meeting them, but are hoping they "cook" for another 8 weeks or so. I'll keep you updated. Stay well and try to stay cool.

Fish report for you, Sat. 6/28 went fishing on the Apollo out of San Diego on a overnighter caught white sea bass and calico's ymm. Jim and I just returned for 6-days in Loreto, Mex. ponga fishing wowie... Caught my first DoDo and my first Sail fish. I have to say that both worked me over real good but I won, Jim covered the trip real nice of him. Hope to send you some photos. We can't make it tomorrow, but I miss you and never forget about you all especially when fishing. God bless you and keep all of you. Love to you Laddy.

It has been far too long so wanted to see how life is treating you? I hope well my friend.

I thought of you over the weekend. Rhett and I were on a boat along with everyone else in town and "America" came on. It put a huge smile on my face as of course it reminded me of you.

I am coming home in August for a 5 night camping trip with the family and kids in the Sierras. I am coming early so will give you a "heads up" and come over for a longer visit then the last.

Hi Alec, wow, what an update i read! thanks for posting all the great information for all the people that love to check in and see how Alec is doing. Alec, it is always awe inspiring to me how positive you stay. it's great to hear that everything is moving along to the point of "almost" completion. it will be amazing when it's all finally done. graduation was a great success this year with 14 graduates this time around. even with the economic craziness, we are still getting referrals, thank goodness. school looks great and we are in the process of building our speech clinic behind the school. we got a great grant to make it happen, so foundation is being poured today and then it will stop until the august break. always something going on at school. we would love to have you for another visit; it really was wonderful to have you on campus last year. keep up the good work and i'll check in again. love as always. your boss!

Hi Bunk~I so enjoyed the latest update! Wow..you're making incredible progress. We hated to miss the Angels' tailgate party--what fun you had! And so many things are falling into place--i.e. the Tipsy! Can't wait to see it. And to think there will be a "working bathroom" outside of the house! (Uncle Earl would be so happy about THAT!) :) Just returned from 5 days at the ranch w/ the gang--fun, but hot. Whenever we go, a heat wave seems to follow. Sorry its been so long since I have checked in, lots of good changes for you that I have been keeping up with. Just returned from 4-days on the Kern River with Scotty, Megan, Richard and boy pal Jim. Kinda cool up there but we had a great trip, fishing was not good, not stocking the river trout were very small and hard to catch due to the fast flow of the river. Going to Loretto next month to due some ponga fishing hoping to catch some DO DO's or whatever. I miss you all. Hope you get moved into your new space soon. All my love and prayers to you all. We hope to stop by soon. Scott is finishing his finals this week on his sophmore year. Doing great, but wants summer...and has been wanting summer since February! ( ugh...teen boys... I must talk to your mother, she has experience with this!)

Heather won Prom queen. As you can imagine, there is just no living with her now. Our backs ache from the constant bowing to the Queen of Everything....she always knew she was the Queen -- it just took a while for the rest of us to catch on. hee.hee

We are heading to Joni & Friends camp in late July. Perhaps , if you are strong enough and your schedule permits, you can come out to visit.
Also, I heard that Nick Vuyjic (Life without Limbs) might be at the Christian Harvest Crusade at Angels stadium. He is so inspiring and awesome to hear speak. You are familiar with the stadium...same place, less beer....but fun, anyway!

So, we have your mom on Facebook and now we need to get you on it. It is a great tool for keeping in contact with old friends and new. I think it can work great too to help get the word out. I have your website up on my page as well as the golf pictures. I have already rallied some Portland golfers for next year who saw your pictures and asked me about it. Made me feel really good. They know how important you are to me so they are great guys and can't wait for you to meet them.

Hey Bunk...Will be up in the area on Saturday for my son Connor's Volleyball Tourney. You are such an inspiration. I just read the updates and I admire you so much. I had a rough day today, taking husband to the doctor, plus other medical details. But, when I read what you're going through, and how bravely you handle everything, my "rough day" doesn't seem so rough. I so enjoy reading about the progress of the Tipsy. We've never met, and I drop a line from time to time, but I'm reminded of you each day I go out on the patio. We still have the Coleman chair cushions and rabbit planter I bought at your great rummarge sale at the church, how many years ago now, three? Thank you for making me appreciate what we take for granted. And, love to your great family and parents. There can't be any better parents than yours! You're very blessed, as are they by having you!
